Nostalgia Electrics is not a new name to SIMPLE. If you remember, we have previously talked about Hot Air Popcorn Maker as well as their Sno-Cone Maker. Be sure to check those out if you haven’t seen them already.

Today I have one of their newer products, the Old Fashioned Ice Cream Maker.  I love doing things with my children in the kitchen, and making ice cream has been no exception.  This may have actually been one of the most fun recipes we have done with our kids.  They were absolutely fascinated with all the ingredients going in, then the spinning around in the ice cream maker to produce fantastically yummy ice cream!

The first night we did ice cream, we all did the ingredients together (the girls watched Mike and I).  Then I brought them in for their bath.  When they came out all fresh, clean and in their jammies….ice cream was their snack!  They were floored that we just made ice cream ourselves!

It was so fun and so simple!

Other than the trip to the grocery store to purchase the few necessary ingredients,the process was a piece of cake.  Putting ingredients in the canister, filling the outside with layers of ice and rock salt, then BAM!  Ice cream! {It really is that simple}.

Making your own ice cream is a little more pricey, but the memories you make while doing it are priceless!  In addition, when you make your won ice cream, you can control the ingredients that are going in. So those with food allergies can make a recipe that excludes the foods they can’t have.  Renee posted a WONDERFUL, yummy recipe for those that want a dairy free ice cream recipe.  It’s fantastic!
