Finding low calorie snacks that are easy to ‘grab and go’ might just be the death of me. I am one for variety, and I can’t stand when I have the same thing over and over and over. Yet, I am one that needs to snack otherwise I get headaches and start feeling grumpy. Or, as we so affectionately call it over here, Hangry. Yup, I’m a hangry monster, so this is an ever elusive search I’m always on.
If I was on a deserted island, and I could only have two foods, I would pick chocolate and cheese. My kids are big on string cheese and I recently learned about the Weight Watchers string cheese. Sharing details on that pick below too, plus I have a coupon for you so you can try it out!
Let’s start talking now, shall we? I wanted to share what I’ve been grabbing this summer, and something new to me too! Plus, at the bottom I WANT to hear your suggestions. As stated previously, I like variety, so share with me what you like too!
Almonds and cranberries. That’s been my newest obsession lately. I’ve been measuring out the almonds and cranberries ahead of time and place them in little baggies so I can grab and go. If I don’t have them measured ahead of time, I’m just not going to do it. I’ll grab something else, something that’s most definitely higher in calories.
Cheez-Its. Because….Cheeze-Its. I gotta have them! 🙂 In small portions though, obviously! 🙂
Cheese. I have recently learned about the Weight Watchers Light Mozzarella String Cheese found at my local Meijer, which can be found next to all the other brands. If you are a Weight Watchers member, you will love to hear that the string cheese is a satisfying choice, as well as 1 PointsPlus value per stick. In addition, there is said to be 50% less fat and 25% fewer calories than the typical String Cheese. If you are a calorie counter, these are only 50 calories per stick. Why not grab two then, right? Ha! I’m a cheese PERSON and I like these you guys. Seriously, check them out!
Carrots. I personally think the raw carrots, not the ones that are already cup up, are more delicious. I’ve been taking the time to get these prepared on the weekend, so I have them available during the week. Isn’t it crazy that if you have things prepared ahead of time, that’s what you pick? Go figure! 🙂
Hard boiled eggs. These are a daily snack. I purchase these every two dozen. Not only do I love having these, my girls love to eat these as well. They are a healthy, snack, as well as a healthy meal if you make them into egg salad sandwiches!
Being a busy mom means you have to figure out life. You have to figure out how to make life work, because the busy just isn’t going away. I absolutely love my life, I just need to figure out the mom hacks for my life, to make it work, and snacking is one of these! Instead of the midday crash and craving for a candy bar, I’m trying my hardest to make smarter choices. Let’s eliminate the cheating together!

August 28, 2016 at 5:49 pmThank you for all of these simple low calorie snacks as I have got to stop eating junk food that is readily accessible. I did not know that Weight Watchers had string cheese and will have to check the dairy isle the next time I go grocery shopping.

August 20, 2016 at 3:35 pmThis is really true. The more “snack ready” healthy food is, the more likely that we’ll choose it. In fact I think one reason junk food is so appealing is that it’s “grab and go” all the time.
Pre-made up homemade trail mix is a great idea for the munchies.

August 9, 2016 at 11:03 amIt is definitely hard to find good healthy low calorie snacks for on the go. I do love string cheese. I have not tried the Weight Watchers Light Mozzarella String Cheese yet. I will have to check it out. I usually grab fresh fruit or nuts.
