We are taking our family to Disneyland this summer and we are paying for majority of our vacation with the money we’ve earned from OhmConnect. It wasn’t money we made overnight, but over the last 2 years we’ve been faithfully participating in each #ohmhour we are offered. It’s slowly been adding up to over $1,000! We are paid cash for the energy we reduce during that designated hour. I don’t want to waste anyone’s time, so please note that this program is for PGE, SGE, and SDG&E energy customers in California, Canada, and some parts of Texas. It seems too good to be true, but I am here to say it’s been the easiest money we’ve ever made. Why would someone pay us to turn off our lights for an hour? Instead of turning on additional power plants during a peak hour, the state would prefer to pay people to reduce energy. It’s cheaper, produces zero carbon emissions, and puts money in our pockets.

You can choose if you want 1-4 per week. We choose as many as possible. It’s fun to unplug for an hour. We often play a game, go outside, or spend some sort of family time together. You can always opt out if you don’t think you can save energy at that given time. You will get a text at least a day in advance letting you know of a coming ohm hour. You don’t have to be extreme. We simply turn off the tv, the air conditioner, most of our lights, and make sure no major appliances are running. Sometimes for fun we break out the lanterns.

I’ve been with the program since April 2016, but we started saving for Disneyland in 2017. I encourage you to see for yourself how amazing this program can be for your family. I will admit I’m fueled by the earnings, but it is good to know we aren’t using dirty energy during a peak time.
There are always new and exciting incentives. I’m currently at an 85% bonus rate because we’ve had 17 successful ohm hours in a row. Our previous record was 31 in a row. We lost our streak because someone **cough cough – my husband ** fell asleep on the couch with the air running full blast and every light in the house on while I was away. Poor guy will never stop hearing about that nap. 🙂
There is also the opportunity for MEGA ohm hours which are super valuable, extra important hours where users with deep reductions qualify for a mega reward. Wait for it….$5000! Once or twice a month we will be offered the mega ohm hours and I can’t wait. The mere chance of winning that much money has me excited.
