mullet haircut

The mullet is a hairstyle that is short at the front and sides, and long in the back. Often ridiculed as a lowbrow and unappealing…

We had a rough couple of days as parents this week. It’s 3 against 2 now. Not only did Jack fracture his wrist at the park, but about twelve hours later someone else decided she needed some attention. She gave herself a haircut with Jack’s scissors she found in his school supplies. I live with Annabelle, I know to keep all scissors out of her reach at all times, but that pair I was not aware of. She was! Her hair was in a pony tail so she snipped away at the front and sides…both sides. It’s like a very, VERY bad mullet. Not that there is a good mullet, but imagine a bad one. Business in the front, party in the back! When I walked into her room and saw the tufts of hair on the floor I felt super outnumbered and defeated by the kids.

After a call to my hair dresser Belinda, that went like this: “Hi Belinda, we have a bit of a hair crisis…can you see Annabelle today?” We went to the JCP salon to get her hair as fixed as possible. There wasn’t much to be done. She has a shorter do and no pony tails because we have to hide the sides. It’s very sad.

This is our child that is causing us the least trouble at the moment. He’s got his prison stripes on should anything change. In all seriousness, he is the sweetest baby. He rarely cries, he sleeps, and he’s happy to just lay in the same room as his crazy family and watch the chaos. He also started to sleep through the night! Hallelujah, I should come out of my sleepy fog soon.

Jack wasted no time figuring out video games with his splint. He did get a bit teary at first when we didn’t think he could play with his left hand, but we figured it out. We are very thankful that his pain is minimal. He has a cast now, which is going to come off before our vacation…on a lake. Yup, really happy about that!

Here is another look at Annabelle’s hair. I did a little more chopping with some thinning scissors (accompanied with lectures that she is never to cut her hair by herself). I hope it grows back fast. I miss her high pony tails with the curls spilling over the top.
