I showed my husband some of the items that were being sold at the North Augusta Arts and Heritage Center Gift Shop where I have some of my framed prints for sale. They had a set of Oyster Shell Napkin Rings that were very beautiful. I took a moment to search for this item and realized how popular these Oyster Shells were and showed the pictures to my husband. He was on Facebook when he saw one of our friends sharing pictures of their oyster roast and asked them for the shells.
Needless to say he picked them up after church the next day for me. I spent all of Sunday afternoon spray washing these shells. A couple of days later, when they had dried, I took a few shells to make some sample necklaces with. I have enjoyed working in artist resin so much that I used it for the shell to enhance it. My final products were these Oyster Shell Necklaces. I used decorative glass beads and hemp to create these beautiful pieces. My Oyster Shell Necklaces turned out beautiful…I couldn’t have planned it any better.
I have always loved the beach, but my husband isn’t crazy about it. Due to working long hours in the heat everyday my husband would rather vacation in the mountains. This is a way to bring the beach to me, wearing these beautiful necklaces. I do plan to try some different colored resins, but for now the gold is perfect.
Would you wear this Oyster Shell Necklace? What color would you like to see the shell?
