packing lunches just got easier with the litter free lunch kit

newwavelogoEvery year I try a new lunch box for my kids, hoping to find one that will really work.  I like a lunch box that can hold a lot of food (and keep it completely smush-free–smushed sandwiches do not go over well), can hold a water bottle in addition to the food AND allows me to send a lunch without sending plastic baggies.  After trying so many different lunch boxes with varying degrees of success, I am so glad I stumbled upon the litter-free lunch kit by New Wave Enviro. 001

The first thing I noticed about the litter-free lunch kit (besides the super fun print) was the size.  This lunch box is big and I love it!  There is enough room for a full lunch, a snack and a water bottle (the kit comes with a great BPA-free water bottle).  I love keeping all of the food in one place–no searching around for snacks or drinks and no crumbs coming home in the backpack!

001Then I opened the lunch box and found all of the great containers to guarantee a smush-free lunch.  Since we were heading out for a picnic, I packed it up and there was room for a sandwich, grapes, veggies, hummus, a water bottle and still room left to add another snack if you’d like.   Sending your child to school with the litter-free lunch kit can eliminate garbage since you have all the containers you will need to pack a great lunch.  Did you know the average amount of garbage generated by one child’s packed lunch is around 67 pounds per school year? And much of that garbage is packaging that can leech chemicals into your child’s food. 007

New Wave Enviro also sells some great stainless steel products–like water bottles, food containers and this stainless steel double-walled insulated container.  I love having the option of sending my kids to school with a hot lunch, especially when I can use up leftovers from dinner.  I tested this one to see how well it would keep things hot.  I started with 180 degree water and 4 hours later, it was 137 degrees.  At 137, the water was still really hot–so I trust that this container would be able to keep soup or other leftovers hot enough to eat at lunch.

New Wave Enviro has partnered with Healthy Child Healthy World to create some great recipes perfect for sending to school with your kids. The recipes are included in your litter-free lunch kit to help give you some healthy lunch ideas.  I know we get into major lunch ruts as the year goes on, so I’ll take all the help I can get!  What do you love most about these great lunch kits?

I love the little bento-box style of these! My son doesn’t have to take a lunch to school just yet, but I’m sure he’d love these!
