Do you have sentimental recipes in your box? I certainly do. My grandma wrote out this recipe for me when I got married in 2004. I pull it out and enjoy seeing her handwriting every time I make Peanut Butter Fingers. It reminds me I should call her more often too.
This recipe will be a crowd favorite wherever you take them. You do need to plan for some cooling time before you add the glaze, but this is not a difficult recipe. I personally like to eat my bar chilled, but they taste good at any temperature. When doesn’t chocolate and peanut butter go well together?
- 1 cup butter
- ½ cup sugar
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- ⅓ cup peanut butter
- ½ tsp. soda
- ¼ tsp.salt
- ½ tsp. vanilla
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup regular or quick cook oats
- 16 oz. chocolate chips
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- ¼ cup peanut butter
- 2-4 tbs. evaporated milk
- Cream together butter, sugar, and brown sugar.
- Mix in 1 egg, peanut butter, soda, salt, and vanilla.
- Stir in flour and oats.
- Spread into a greased 9x13 in. pan and bake 20-25 minutes.
- When out of oven immediately sprinkle with chocolate chips. Spread after 5 minutes and allow to cool.
- Mix ½ cup powdered sugar, ¼ cup peanut butter, and 2-4 tablespoons evaporated milk or milk for topping. Spread or drizzle over top.
