I was recently told about something that Pillsbury has, and I was able to find this at my local Wal-Mart store. Did you know that Pillsbury has a line exclusively for those that shop for gluten free items? Can all the parents with a child (or themselves!) that have a gluten allergy give an AMEN?!?! Yes, I thought so! And unfortunately, this is getting to be more and more common these days. Let’s discuss a solution to the birthday party treat dilemma!
We went to Wal-Mart and picked up a box of each of their items in the gluten-free category. I mean, we were there picking up some essentials anyways, and we were going to be baking a cake too, so why not just get ‘er done! Stocked up on all of it! Curiosity got the best of us and, that night my soon-to-be 10 year old and I baked up her birthday cake! We were THAT anxious to try it out.
The findings? Absolutely delicious! We shared this with some friends that were over and they couldn’t even tell a difference. With all the dietary sensitivities these days, I don’t know WHY we wouldn’t just buy the gluten free cake mixes from now on anyways. I mean, in my eyes, less is more when it comes to ingredients, and that’s exactly what the Pillsbury Gluten Free Premium Cake Mixes are!
And you guys, they are not expensive either! Very price conscious.
We decorated the cake with gluten-free frosting. Did you know that all Pillsbury frostings are ALL gluten free? Winning! In addition, she wanted a simple sprinkle too, because all kids like sprinkles…even almost 10 year olds. 🙂
And last but not least, who is busy? I mean…we all are! Making a cake doesn’t have to take all day. With everyone’s busy schedule, you all will have the time to whip up an easy, gluten-free birthday cake in an afternoon…frosting, decorations and all!
Now, let’s eat some cake!! BUT….I have MORE good news for you. I have found gluten-free cookies and gluten-free brownies too! Stay tuned, info on that is coming soon!
Talk to me, did you know about this? Do you think it’s just as cool as I do? Do you or anyone you know struggle with a gluten allergy too? Please share this with them so they know. Knowledge is power!!

May 22, 2016 at 11:54 amMy daughter isn’t gluten free but I love that these options are more available since with birthday parties coming up it could be that we need to have a gluten free cake so everyone can have cake 🙂

April 7, 2016 at 10:00 pmOh I am so thankful for companies like Pillsbury for making gluten free options! I was diagnosed with Celiac disease about 10 years ago now. Options have come so far and taste to good compared to back then. I LOVE Pillsbury gluten free cakes and cookies! I hope they continue to make more!
