princess diaries :: 10th anniversary edition combo pack

Can I get a ‘holla from all those out there with little princesses in your life!  We love all things princess here – and to see something that has a “real life princess” in it, stuns my Lili.  (Adalynn still is clueless of princesses outside of Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and all the other Disney princesses.) Let’s be honest here, haven’t we all dreamed about how cool it would be to be a princess?  I know that I sure have in my life. 🙂

The Princess Diaries : 10th Anniversary Edition + THE PRINCESS DIARIES 2: Royal Engagement was sent to us and from the cover alone, it got Lili talking and pleading to watch it almost immediately.

I don’t know about you, but all things just plain LOOK better in Blu-ray! And this Blu-ray pack is no different.  It was fun watching this with her, but then comparing it to the copy that I have watched many time that is NOT blu-ray.  Yup, you guessed it.  The old copy is now gone!  Blu-ray all the way baby!

Anyways, on to a little about the DVD’s if you haven’t seen them before:

To commemorate the 10th anniversary† of a cherished family classic, Disney proudly presents a special movie collection featuring two modern-day fairy tales, The Princess Diaries and The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, for the first time ever on Blu-ray!

We started with the first one, The Princess Diaries.  Classic.  Funny.  All around good.

“Mia Thermopolis is the average teenager – sweet, a little geeky and pretty much invisible to everyone with the exception of her mother, best friend Lilly and Lilly’s older brother Michael. Making it through high school without throwing up is a challenge in itself for Mia, so it doesn’t come as welcome news when her estranged grandmother shows up out of the blue and calmly informs her that she is in fact the heir to the throne of a European country called Genovia. Suddenly Mia’s life is thrown into complete overload. She’s being taught about scarves, waves and pears in order to become a perfect princess, she gets a makeover…”

We then watched the sequel, The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement.

“…this modern-day fairy tale picks up right where The Princess Diaries left off!  As future queen of Genovia, Princess Mia (Hathaway) has everything a girl could want – except the magical romance she’s always dreamed of.  But soon, Mia’s shocked to discover that she needs to get married right now or her family will lose the crown!  Comic complications rule the day in this delightful family story about finding out who you really are and discovering what it takes to make your dreams come true!”

It’s not your typical sequel, you know. The ones that are more cheesy and not as good at the first was? It was still very delightful.

We also took some time to watch the outtakes and bloopers section.  I am always curious about these – some were pretty great! 🙂

All in all it was a fun thing to watch with Lili – and I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it.  Even when she walked away I stayed watching.  Gotta love movies like that!  Both very family friendly.  And hey, you get Movie Reward Points too!
