Once again it’s time to Ride Along the Dinosaur Train! at our house. This time it’s with a new interactive board book that features some of my girls’ favorite Dinosaur Train friends from the Cretaceous period. This new book, Ride Along the Dinosaur Train!, from Penguin Young Readers is in celebration of the new 1 hour Dinosaur Train special “Submarine Adventure” that debuted on February 18th.
If you & yours (like me & mine) missed this special, don’t worry! As of February 19th you can watch it on PBS KIDS Video Player at PBSKIDS.org/video and on the free PBS KIDS Video App!
My girls really had fun reading the Ride Along the Dinosaur Train! book. It’s not every day that my 5 year old gets the opportunity to help mom out with how to say words, but she’s a BIG Dinosaur Train fan and instead of my reading the phonetic pronunciations printed in the book I just asked my little one what the dinosaur in the picture was! (lol!)
Thankfully, the book does have those pronunciations spelled out for you (super duper easy) just in case you struggle with Quetzalcoatlus (KWET-zal-koh-AT-lus) or Deinonychus (dye-NON-ik-us).
The interactive part of the book is the little train at the top. This is actually a moveable piece that your kiddos push forward to “ride along the Dinosaur Train” as you flip the pages. This is a pretty sturdy piece too, so I am not to worried about the kids getting rambunctious and ripping it off the book (because there IS a difference between sturdy board books and board books your kids will eat for dinner).
