Nobody is shaving their head over here, but I hear that’s the latest trend during quarantine. My oldest son (12) is loving his locks that he can toss around. He has never had it long because his school requires a shorter haircut so he’s taking advantage of his chance to let it grow.
Speaking of hair, I buzzed my youngest and he’s looking spiffy and sharp. We had good laughs over my attempts to cut my husband’s hair. I was so nervous that I was painfully conservative. We joked that the sheltering in place would be lifted before I was done with his haircut. I researched how to do it first. The Small Things posted this very helpful video for cutting men’s hair. I know we are all becoming the family barber right now. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
The point of this post is not to talk about hair, but I have shared this video with a few people recently so thought you might find it helpful too.
SHAVEMOB
I just made my yearly order for my favorite razors. Shavemob has been talked about many times on the blog because I have been a faithful customer since 2013!! They are not a monthly club, although they do have a subscription program now that will save you some money. However, I have found the razors last longer then they say so I simply order as needed.
I buy these razors for myself and my husband. When you initially buy, you will want a package with a handle, but for future orders you can simply buy the replacement blades.
My personal favorite is The Purist. Here are the features of this middle option of razors they offer:
- 4 stainless steel, precision-cut blades
- Lubricating strip containing chamomile, olive oil, allantoin
- Non-clogging Flow-through blade design
- Pivot head with ergonomic handle angle
- Replaceable cartridge razor
- Non-slip handle
I have NEVER once cut myself using this razor. My knees and ankles remain unscathed. I feel like that alone is a selling point. Last time I ordered was in 2018 and I did the year supply of replacement blades and it lasted me 1.5 years. I should also mention that I shave my legs EVERY SINGLE DAY. So that speaks quite well for how long they last.
I don’t want to know if your quarantine schedule includes shaving your legs. Some of you might REALLY need this link in for the future. I have a coupon code to share with you so you can get 10% off your already affordable order.
A SIMPLE COUPON:
Use code SHAVE10 when you checkout at Shavemob for 10% off your order. They offer free shipping on all their orders as well.

April 17, 2020 at 5:04 pmNo head shaving at our house. Hubby is the family barber and stylist and he has been giving my boys their haircuts every three weeks for years. He has the proper tools and supplies to do the job. He uses a combination of the clippers with different attachments and the shears over the comb cutting for the longer hair on top and blending with the shorter hair on the sides. He does An excellent job every time and my teens are very happy with his work. I take a seat every couple months, get caped and hubby trims my long hair. Hubby cuts his own useing two mirrors in the bathroom. So we easily save over a grand a year, and given the current situation, my boys are staying well groomed and when they head back to school (soon I hope) they will not be looking scruffy nor have shaved heads.
