As I sit to write this post it is 9:30 PM and I. Am. Hungry. Like, sneak into the kitchen and devour a sleeve of chocolate coated peppermint cookies hungry. Don’t judge – you know you’ve had that craving too…. Now, I have two choices: 1) snarf down those cookies and live to regret it; or 2) find a healthier snack that still appeases my sweet tooth.
Choice #2 is obviously the smarter option, but unless you’re prepared there’s a good chance those sneaky cookies will make their way onto your thighs faster than a two-year-old can strip naked. Thankfully, with a little help from Nature Valley’s Honey Breakfast Biscuits, the cookies lost the battle here tonight.
Swimsuit season is fast approaching and while I can honestly say that I feel comfortable in my bathing suit, becoming more fit and making healthier eating choices are still priorities of mine. The past few weeks I was lucky enough to get a great box from Nature Valley full of fun products to try out. I already have a stash of my favorite Nature Valley granola bars in the cupboard, but I really had fun learning about some other Nature Valley products I hadn’t tried before as well as some new fun ways to enjoy them.
For example, my #springtraining box from Nature Valley came with the idea to mix half a meal replacement shake with 1 cup of Nature Valley Protein Granola. Let it sit overnight and then top it with fresh fruit for a tasty parfait. So tasty in fact, that this girl who usually can’t stand the flavor of protein or meal replacement shakes ate it down lickety-split. I suggest Nature Valley Cranberry Almond Protein Granola with a vanilla shake and fresh raspberries. It is so good!
To combat the 3 pm slump the other day I mixed a coconut flavored greek yogurt with a cup of the Nature Valley Oats n’ Dark Chocolate Protein Granola. My love of chocolate knows no bounds so I added some extra goodness with a sprinkle of cacao nibs. Nom. Nom. Nom!
The start of spring means that my girls and I will be out enjoying many more adventures. This summer I’m throwing a box of Nature Valley Honey Breakfast Biscuits in my momvan for emergency snacking situations. They won’t melt, are full of whole grains, and were a hit with the whole family.
So, now that I’ve shared, what Nature Valley granola products are your favorites? Any tasty tips or special recipes on how to enjoy them?
