My kids are some of the lucky few who start school after Labor Day. Which means TODAY is their first day of school! We’ve been so fortunate to have a nice, relaxing, fun-filled summer and, I have to admit, getting back into the swing of things for school is going to take a lot of getting used to! Especially those rushed mornings!
I have three kids in three different schools with three different start times. Which means some days I feel like I’m going through the morning routine all morning long! I know my kids need a super nutritious breakfast with enough protein to get them through the whole morning. So while it’s tempting to just give them a piece of toast or a bowl of cereal, I know it’s not doing them any favors!
So I created a ridiculously easy breakfast that has a serving of fruit and a ton of protein–around 20 grams of it!! It also requires no cooking, has three ingredients and is easy enough for many kids to make themselves.
Ingredients: 1 Wella Bar of your choice (I used Cranberry Crunch here but have tried this recipe with several options), 1 banana, 2 TB or so nut butter of your choice.
Slice the banana, spread on some nut butter and top with a crumbled Wella bar. See, I told you it was ridiculously easy! Because it is very filling, only one of my kids can eat a whole one. So if you have light eaters in the morning, you may want to just make a half banana worth (I find the other half keeps okay in the peel).
This has become one of my go-to breakfasts. In even more of a rush, grab a Wella bar to go. They are full of protein all on their own! And you don’t have to feel the least bit guilty with their organic ingredients and no refined sugars. I pick up a box every single time I’m at Costco but they are found in so many other stores now!
