the 2015 girl of the year from american girl :: information

For those that are obsessed with the American Girl Doll brand, this will most likely not be a surprise to you. Or maybe it will be because of all the hustle and bustle of the New Year setting in, you may have forgot that the NEW Girl of the Year, from American Girl, was released TODAY! You could have stalked the internet to tried to catch a sneak peek, or maybe you even watched Good Morning American yesterday morning like we did.

However, if you haven’t done either of those, then what I have for you today IS news and I’m thrilled to be the one sharing with you.

I would like to introduce you to Grace Thomas, the 2015 Girl of the Year from American Girl!!

When we first started watching the clues that American Girl was blasting across their social media, my oldest because VERY excited. She saw clues leading toward Paris. Her Mimi and her talked about a trip, for a couple years now, that when she turns 16, they are going to Paris. They have read some books about Paris, they have learned a few words, and Lilianna has even picked up a couple Eiffel Towers here and there. So, to have clues surrounded Paris in one of her most favorite past times, playing with American Girl dolls, has her ELATED!!

We were just as thrilled as in year’s past when we saw Grace yesterday on Good Morning America. What a doll, literally!! We also received a copy of her book. Again, my oldest…thrilled! And look at that sweet little pup – I want the doll AND the pup!!

On January 1, American Girl will introduce girls to its brand-new 2015 Girl of the Year, Grace Thomas. An avid baker with an entrepreneurial spirit, Grace shows girls today that following your dreams can lead to sweet rewards. Available for only one year, Grace will launch with two books that tell her story, a beautiful 18-inch Grace doll, and an array of fun accessories.

The one thing that is really sticking out to me with this Girl of the Year, they are really talking the entrepreneurial spirit and making it for yourself. I love this! What kid doesn’t talk about starting their own business, whether it’s a lemonade stand, selling bracelets, making pictures…or more! Check out one more thing they are doing with this year’s doll that I think is super cool:

To further Grace’s inspirational message for girls, American Girl has created For Goodness, Bake!–a year-long fund-raising initiative in support of No Kid Hungry, the campaign to end childhood hunger in America from Share Our Strength. Other Grace-related activities for girls include the In the Mix with Grace online journal and year-long Grace-themed retail events. A full-length movie based on Grace’s stories will debut on DVD from Universal Studios Home Entertainment later in 2015.
