The Champion Hare is a fun sports themed picture book and interactive app. The author, Gwen Christie, is a really lovely lady from the UK that is giving away a signed hard copy of the book and a free download of the interactive app. We have the app on our iPad (also compatible with iPod touch & iPhone) and the kids can’t get enough of it. After an unfortunate accident with my iPod shattering on the kitchen floor when a certain 2 year old dropped it, we have strict rules about the uses of our iDevices being used with adult supervision. No need for mom guilt that I’m not reading to the kids, I’m right there with them as they interact with the app. It would be fun to use with the wearable activity center lapiluv too!
As you can see in this video, they are easily using the app on their own (which they love) and it is oodles of fun. We spent a lazy morning in our pj’s reading Champion Hare the day we initially reviewed it and since then it’s not gotten old. They ask to read it over and over. They have favorite pages where gorillas jump out of bushes, animals scurry hop and skidaddle on every page, and insects flutter and fly. The kids like to find all the objects that move on each page.
The story is about a small rabbit that is doubtful he can compete against a cheetah, kangaroo, or giraffe. Although he doesn’t win every event, he was a worthy winner of the decathlon. It’s a heart warming story that teaches children to strive to do their best and have a cheerful attitude when competing.
