With summer quickly approaching I’m preparing myself with some fun music selections to keep the girls entertained on our road tripping adventures. Another new favorite of ours are The Pop Ups and their newest release Radio Jungle.
The Pop Ups are Jason Rabinowitz and Jacob Stein, who have a bit of a unique (and amusing) story of how they started on their path to kindie rock musical success…
… began as a personal challenge for two Brooklyn musicians looking to make something that their friends could feel good about enjoying with their young families. Jason Rabinowitz and Jacob Stein set the bar high when they decided to write and record a really good album in just a week in Jason’s home studio. Calling themselves The Pop Ups, they distributed the demos to friends and were overwhelmed by the positively exuberant responses from both parents and kids.
I laugh every time I think about them starting out to a “really good album” in just a week. That’s just insane to me, but obviously these crazy beginnings have worked for The Pop Ups! Radio Jungle is their second family album release following their widely acclaimed initial debut.
For a taste of what to find on Radio Jungle watch the below video of “Box of Crayons.”
The first time I listened to this album the kids and I were all dancing along before we’d even finished the first track, “Connect The Stars” (our favorite track by the way). The upbeat effervescence found throughout Radio Jungle has been a big hit with not only the kids and I suggest visiting the Radio Jungle page to take a listen to the rest of the album. my SIMPLE star rating :: 5 out of 5
Radio Jungle :: $9.00 digital download or $10 for the CD (which includes an immediate digital download…)
