I finally held one of the first copies of The Same Page by Shauna Pilgreen and Courtney Bullard in my hand and couldn’t wait to open its cover. The Same Page is a tale about the strained relationship between a mother and her teenage daughter. If you think you really don’t need a reminder of the challenges and adventures of raising a daughter, I dare you to read this book. The Same Page speaks wisdom without lecturing, it is authentic without being harsh, it is fictional and set in the medieval age yet it is as relevant today as it will be in years to come. The Same Page is an enchanting story about love, truth and purpose.
What makes The Same Page so unique is that it is a flip book with one side telling the story from a teenage daughter’s perspective and the other from a mother’s viewpoint. Shauna and her co-author Courtney had the vision to reach the minds and hearts of girls of all ages. But this heartfelt and charming story doesn’t just talk to girls, it speaks to every woman’s desire to be worthy. It reminds mothers that they can’t hold their daughters responsible for their lack of courage to pursue their own dreams. Maybe – hopefully – this story encourages daughters to see their mothers differently and not as someone who constantly interferes with their lives.
The book even includes a few journal pages with thoughts and questions to encourage the readers to write their own story. I think the The Same Page should be on every girl’s bookshelf and deserves to be treasured and shared with the next generation. I cannot wait to read it to and with my daughter when she’s old enough to understand. my SIMPLE star rating :: 4 out of 5
