Sponges are a great cleaning tool in your kitchen. However, all those spills and splatters you clean up on various surfaces throughout the day result in lots of bacteria and viruses growing on that handy sponge. This cleaning tip will not only sterilize your sponge, but it will keep your microwave crust free too! It’s a 2 in 1 cleaning post.

clean microwaves platters and sterilize your sponges*Do not try to use the hot sponge you just sterilized to wipe out your microwave. Use a paper towel or wait for sponge to cool.

Did you know...White distilled vinegar is a popular household cleanser, effective for killing most mold, bacteria, and germs, due to its level of acidity. Cleaning with white distilled vinegar is a smart way to avoid using harsh chemicals. You’ll also be glad to know that it is environmentally friendly and very economical.- vinegartips.com

keep your microwave splatter freeAnother tip to keep your microwave splatter free is THIS microwave lid that Ikea sells. It’s a whopping $1.29! As long as we use the lid, I rarely have to clean up my microwave. The lid is dishwasher safe as well, so I simply pop it in with a load of dishes when it gets dirty. I’m all about preventative and easy cleaning.

*The Ikea lid was purchased by myself for this review. The opinions expressed are my own*
