Spring is finally here, and it’s been so nice to get outside and work in the yard and let my son just run around doing what he loves! I love the change of seasons, and I am enjoying hearing the birds out and watching all the brown turn to green! A few of our flowers are starting to bloom, and I am looking forward to planting this year’s garden!
With the change of season, especially from winter to spring, my allergies really start to give me problems! I am actually currently fighting off a sinus headache from all the time we spend outside yesterday. While there is not much I can do to purify the air from allergens outside, I do what I can to keep them away inside. This way, even though we have the windows open, I can keep us all from sneezing inside. I haven’t noticed major allergies yet in my son, but they run strong in my family so I’m keeping an eye on it.
I recently started using an air purifier from Honeywell, and I have really noticed a difference inside for me. I love that it helps me keep the air free of dust, pollen, and mold spores inside our home. These purifiers have so many amazing features, but here are a few of my favorites.
- # 1 brand recommended by allergists
- Quietly runs without disrupting our family
- Different touch settings to run at different intervals (2 hour, 4 hour, 8 hour shutoffs)
- Cleans allergens and removes odors from the air
Check them out on Facebook and Twitter.
While different times of life and seasons of the year have been bad enough for me to take medicines to keep my allergies manageable, I have found a few simple ideas to help keep the side effects to a minimum and to keep me from having to take medicine.
- Wash blankets and all bedding regularly.
I try to make sure I wash all of our bedding and blankets once a week in hot water. I’ve read many recommendations that this is one of the top ways to keep allergens away. - Vacuum furniture.
Vacuum couches and chairs regularly. I’ve also found that our leather couches are easier to keep clean. Watch Honeywell’s video about this here. - Keep your bathroom clean and use exhaust fan when you shower.
This will help reduce the chance of mold and mildew in your bathroom. - Use an Air Purifier.
Allergists recommend this purifier, and it has done a great job in our home!
Happy Spring! Enjoy the weather and the the plants, and keep those allergies in check!
