totlogic :: nontoxic body products for kids

totlogic logoOver the past several months, I have been phasing out a lot of our usual body products in favor of non-toxic alternatives.  Since our skin is our largest organ and absorbs a large percentage of what you put on it, I like to keep things as clean as possible.  Have you ever actually read the ingredient list on the back of your bug spray and sunscreen?  Most likely, there are a lot of unpronounceable chemicals in there.  TotLogic has taken the guesswork out of label reading by making products free of phthalates, parabens, sulfates and many other not-so-pleasant ingredients.

repel-gel_largeWith the warmer temperatures, bugs are now out and we’re finding we need to slather on the bug spray any time we are out.  Logic Products makes a great bug repel gel–called InsectLogic Natural Bug Repel Gel–much easier to apply accurately than a spray and it creates a thicker barrier as well, but absorbs into the skin smoothly.  This DEET-free gel is made from 100% plant-derived ingredients.  I love that the citronella smell is natural and not overbearing and it feels good on my skin.

TotLogic-Sunscreen-with-NEW_largeTotLogic sunscreen is a new SPF 30 sunscreen that uses zinc oxide, coconut oil, aloe and lots of other plant-derived ingredients to safely provide sun protection for you and your kids.  This water-resistant formula is on my wish list for the summer.  As the product just launched, I haven’t had a chance to try it yet, but I’ll come back to give you my thoughts once we’ve given it a good test run.

My daughter’s long hair tends to take a beating in the summer.  Lots of time in the sun, in the pool and general activity leaves her hair unruly and difficult to brush.  Instead of fighting with her to get the tangles out, we have been spraying in TotLogic Leave-In Conditioning Spray.  We just spray in this natural conditioner, let it soak in a bit and brush through.  I have to admit, I’ve even used it a few times when my hair gets a bit frizzy in the summer humidity and I love it!  It leaves my hair smoother and easy to brush.

Have you switched any of your body products to more natural alternatives?  What TotLogic products interest you the most?

I, personally, have tried to switch to more natural products for my skin. After all, it’s our biggest organ and it will readily absorb just about anything we put onto it. I have Lupus and though they don’t know what causes it, there are those that think perhaps chemicals cause the body’s immune system to go whacky. So I think these products are great and I will pass the info on. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing this, Robin. I do my best to buy products with ingredients I can pronounce–was happy with the ingredient list TotLogic has. I can’t imagine how many chemicals I’ve lathered myself in over the years, but it’s never too late to make a change!

I’m giving this info off to my daughter. I know she will be interested in the bug repellent since she lives in a mosquito area. I’m lucky – my desert has no mosquitoes.
