Just when you think that Stan Lee would be kicking back and retiring from the comic book world, the 93 year old creative genius does it again! And by “it”, I mean creates a whole other superhero world!
Co-creator of such comic book successes like Spider-Man, the Hulk, the Fantastic-Four, Iron Man, and the X-Men, Stan Lee has teamed up with co-authoer Stuart Moore and illustrator Andie Tong to bring to life the newest adventure — The Zodiac Legacy.
The Zodiac Legacy: Convergence, the first book in the series, introduces us to Steven, a Chinese-American teenager, who, unbeknownst to him, finds himself thrown into the middle of a epic chase around the world when twelve magical superpowers are unleashed. Of course, as the book name suggests, the secrets to his survival are locked up with the mysterious powers of the Zodiac!
What I really like about The Zodiac Legacy: Convergence is that it’s written in such a way that both preteen-boys and girls will enjoy. And the illustrations in the graphic novel are really amazing!
True to Lee’s style, our “superhero” in The Zodiac Legacy is not born into the role of Super Hero. Instead he kind of fumbles his way into it and is surrounded by the everyday struggles of a typical teen — not necessarily fitting in or trying to find themselves and yet making so many mistakes along the way or dealing with parents who don’t quite have the time for you. Steven doesn’t just pull the cape out of the closet and decides to be a Super Hero. He becomes our “unlikely” hero and the “real-life” drama intertwined into the story makes for a much more compelling read!
The Zodiac Legacy: Convergence just hit shelves last week and I have no doubt that it will be flying off said-shelves in no time! Young readers are going to love this story! My daughter devoured this first book and can’t wait for the next book in the series to be released!! You can find The Zodiac Legacy at most major bookstores and online.
You can learn more about The Zodiac Legacy at DisneyZodiac.com and follow DisneyHyperion on Twitter at @DisneyHyperion.
