Yes, you read correctly, I use doTERRA Essential Oils internally. You do too without realizing it. When you add a peppermint leaf to your tea, add fresh oregano to your spaghetti or when you sprinkle cinnamon on your oatmeal. You can do all the same things with essential oils. Essential oils are used for health benefits as well as flavoring and aroma properties to foods.
Using essential oils internally is a very safe and effective method of application because of the sophisticated physiologic processes of our bodies. When we ingest essential oils they enter the blood stream through our gastrointestinal tract, where they are transported throughout the rest of the body. Essential oils are lipid soluble so they are readily transported to all organs of the body, including the brain. Then, like all things we consume, essential oils are metabolized by the liver and other organs and are then excreted.
Effective Methods for Internal Application:
-
Replace fresh or dried herbs with essential oils when cooking.
-
Essential oils are potent so use them sparingly.
-
Add essential oils to water, smoothies, milk, tea or other drinks.
-
Take essential oils in a veggie cap or add a small amount to applesauce or yogurt. If you would like to learn more about essential oils feel free to leave your questions. If you would like to try them for yourself go here.
