Through our my whole pregnancy, I had this list of 3-4 names that could potentially be her name. All the way up til I had her I just knew one of those names was going to be hers. Boy, I was so wrong. When I had her, I looked at her and just knew NONE of those names would fit. She didn’t “LOOK” like any one of them. So, there we were stuck trying to find a name for our daughter. The nurses even brought in a baby name book so we could look through it.
They were certainly getting impatient with me because they wanted to complete the birth certificate. It came to the day that I was leaving the hospital and we finally decided on a name one hour before filling out the birth certificate. Dad thought of the name and I figured out the spelling. Charlee was her name to be!
Sometimes people just look at me or say “Oh” when I tell them her name, but I love it and wouldn’t change it for the world. It is unique and fun!
When I found this unique little shop, Name Definition, I knew I had to get one for Charlee. The best part about this shop is that YOU create the definition. How awesome is that? It’s a great way to remember your little one at that age.
Name Definition is a partner shop with Halo Collective that I shared a couple months ago. Same owner and she makes amazing tees.
Charlee’s definition is a mini fashionista who loves music & dancing and survives on fruit and veggies squeezies. You can make it anything. This is totally on point when it comes to Charlee. You also get to choose what type of shirt you want it on. So many different styles to choose from.
What does your name mean? What would your child’s definition say? Find out with Name Definition!

On another note: my dad’s best friend named his Charlee and I have never met or seen anyone with that name. I have always liked it.

April 24, 2017 at 10:24 amI also wanted to mention. In the future if you do not have a name prior to leaving the hospital. You can still leave without one. My youngest just born 8 months ago did not have a name until he was 8 weeks old. The birth certificate lady was pushy and insistent but I held my ground because my husband and I could not agree on a name (we did not know gender and had TONS of girl names but no boy names in agreement).
When we left he was “baby”. When it was time to name him the process was so simple. All it took was a trip downtown to the birth certificate office. Within 30 mins we had a official name and certificate.
When I called the state and asked they told me there is not a time limit on naming!

April 26, 2017 at 8:37 amVery interesting. I didn’t know this. They were so pushy about it…I didn’t know, so we named her because they made us. I do wish I would have had a little more time, even tho I love her name now!! I feel like it was so forced!

April 26, 2017 at 11:06 amA lot of people do not know that. When I would speak with people about the no name. They were shocked and would tell me horror stories about how pushy the hospital staff was to name the baby.
Here is the theory:
if you homebirth there is no one over your shoulder to push the name.
They can not legally keep you in the hospital because you do not have a name.
If they decided that they will not discharge you, then theory.. they can pay the hospital bill of keeping you and babe there.
It is sad that many people feel pushed to name their baby because of the added stress. What it comes down to is the birth certificate staff member wants to get her paperwork done!
haha, maybe you can write a blog post about not being forced to name babe while in hospital!

April 28, 2017 at 8:28 amYou know, you have a really good point. I don’t think the hospitals need to stress the moms out by doing this. Maybe I should write up something so more people are aware. Thank you for sharing!!

April 21, 2017 at 3:39 pmI love the name Charlee, and I love these shirts! I wanted to name our daughter Rory, but my husband just couldn’t get past thinking it was a boy’s name. 🙁 We ended up naming her after my grandmother, though, so I’m happy. The fringe on this style is ultra-cute!
