Pop. Sucker. Treat. Candy. These are the words my little guy says when we head out to the doctor’s office, the store, and church. Before I became a mom of a little one old enough to eat these treats, I never understood why people didn’t let their kids have a piece of candy when someone offered them one. Now I realize how often these things are given to little ones, and while I do appreciate the people who love to share these things with my little guy, I try to then give him healthy options at home instead of adding more treats regularly.
For Valentine’s Day this year I’ve decided to give him a few little things and some healthy snacks from Ella’s Kitchen. His valentines for his little friends and cousins are also going to be a healthy snack from Ella’s Kitchen! These were so simple to make, and make a great on the go snack for any little one 6 months and older.
The Red One has become one of my boy’s favorites. This organic smoothie is made up of apples, bananas, raspberries, and strawberries. No extra ingredients, not even water! We typed up some cute labels, printed them off and added them to the Red One for an adorable little valentine for any little one! He’s been pointing at them on the table all week and saying “friends”.
I made up a little basket for Valentine’s Day for our son with some of his favorite Ella’s Kitchen snacks, along with a DVD, a toy, and a book. Here’s what I included:
- Paw Patrol DVD- He can’t stop talking about this show, even though he’s only seen it a couple times.
- Cement Mixer Truck-This boy loves any car, truck, tractor, or train!
- Hello-copter! Oats and Honey Cookies- He loves all the shapes of these delicious cookies, and I love that they are an easy snack to bring. They are made with wheat, barley, oats, and corn and have 3g of sugar or less per serving.
- MMMighty Strawberry and Red Beet Smoothie Drink – This is his favorite juice box drink, which gives him a full serving of fruit! Tasty and healthy.
Holidays like Valentine’s Day have taken on a new element of fun since having kids, and each year it gets better and better!
Happy Valentine’s Day from the Simple Mom’s and Ella’s Kitchen!
