veggietales :: robin good

Don’t tell Bob the Tomato but I’m fairly sure that Larry the Cucumber is our favorite Veggie. He’s perpetually cheerful, and rather lovable in a puppy-like way. Sometimes he mistakes, but he always learns from them and his child-like view on life is contagiously joyful.

With that being said we love when Larry gets to star in a new VeggieTales DVD and their latest release Robin Good and His Not-So-Merry Men is firmly on the “We love Larry the Cucumber” DVD watch list.

In this creative parody based on the popular “Robin Hood” tale, VeggieTales follows its unique tradition of retelling classic adventures like Lord of the Beans, Wizard of Ha’s, Minnesota Cuke and Pistachio. Based on Psalm 55:22 which says, “Give your burdens to the Lord for He will take care of you,” Robin Good teaches kids that “there’s no hurt too big for God,” as Robin Good tries to overcome his hurt, show his friends what is right and restore the townspeople’s hope.

Here’s the trailer for a little teaser…

The new DVD also reminds children that God is always on their side in the bonus short entitled, Lenny & the Lost Birthday, featuring a special lesson in handling disappointment that also helps kids understand “Leap Year.”  For 4-year-old Michaela, this short was a better teacher of the lesson that “there’s no hurt too big for God” than the main feature.  The first time we watched it, her tender heart was moved to tears in empathy for Lenny’s plight.  She still gets distressed but will now remind us how, “He (Lenny) is going to be okay.” my SIMPLE rating :: 5 out of 5
