Welcome to June, the beginning of that magical season when school is out, the extra curricular programs have ended, and we all need ways to distract ourselves and the kids from the monotony of being together all day. Every day. For the next three months.
To help your whole family something to look forward to this month here are some fun wacky holidays to celebrate and some fun ideas of how to include them in to your day.
Start your month out right by celebrating one of the best foods on the planet… cheese. Don’t feel left out if you’re vegan – I know that there are some great options for you out there as well! I’m making it a personal challenge to include cheese in all of our meals on this most wonderful of days.
You know that summer has officially arrived when you can find this vegetable taking center stage in the picnic table spread. I’m a purist and like my corn plain or with a touch of butter and salt but I know that there are MANY delicious recipes out there for those of you who are more adventurous with this summer staple.
I swear, this is my last food themed holiday to share for this month but I couldn’t pass up the chance to encourage more adventurous eaters (I know, you didn’t see that coming after my corn comments above). This looke like the perfect excuse to try out our new sushi rolling kit!
Independence Day is still a couple weeks after this next holiday, but what better chance to learn some more about our national bird than the holiday dedicated to it? I will admit that it is a magical experience every time we see one flying overhead whether it be at the lake, driving down the highway, in our backyard, or even at Walt Disney World!
What summer outfit is complete without the perfect pair of shades? My kids always help scratch up my sunglasses before they make it to a year old, so what better way to celebrate this holiday than with picking out a new pair of sunglasses to rock at all those summer picnics?
I hope these 5 fun and wacky holidays help your family to enjoy the beginnig of summer? Any big plans to celebrate your own “wacky” holiday?
