May has finally arrived and while I know that some places still received snow on the first day of May, the rest of us are excitedly looking forward to May flowers ans summer being just a month away. Now that we have all had our yearly fill of Justin Timberlake memes (you know what I’m talking about) it is time to find some other wacky and random reasons to celebrate throughout the rest of the month.
This first holiday also gets a couple bonus holidays thrown in because it is not every year that you can celebrate Star Wars Day (as in “May the fourth be with you” on May 4) as well as Cinco de Mayo (May 5) in one weekend. Just in case you are not a lover of Star Wars here is another bonus holiday that’s much more Earth bound.
This next holiday is the perfect excuse to plan your next holiday (as the British put it) or a vacation for those of use in the good ol’ USA. Plan your summer vacation, add in a quick weekend trip before or after the busy summer months, or simply add a new event/stop/attraction to already existing plans.
For those of you who are not quite as excited about quick hopping amphibians as your average 8 year old boy, this next holiday could be fun to celebrate with some of those plastic frog party favors that “jump” when you push down and then release the tab at the back. Just in case I am unable to acquire the needed number of live or plastic frogs to allow all my kids to participate in a frog jumping race, I have a back up plan of making my kids actually jump like frogs and race themselves.
Next up is a holiday that just about everyone can get behind. Pick your family’s favorite bread, rolls, brownies, cake, muffins, or cookie recipe and bake something delicious! Bonus if you have a great baking recipe to share with us all below in the comments!
By the end of the month when this last holiday rolls around I hope we all have snowstorms and winter as a distant memory and are able to enjoy the much anticipated May flowers that have hopefully popped up.
I hope that the easy fun these wacky holidays can bring helps your family to enjoy some time together during the storm of what is traditionally a crazy busy month for parents around the country!
