Did you know that Scholastic has a set of DVDs called Storybook Treasures from New Kideo? My girls are loving these animated classic children’s stories that have the words at the bottom to read along.
While my girls aren’t old enough to read the words on the screen yet, I do see my 5-year-old picking out words she has already learned and it’s very exciting for her. Very, very exciting.
The Springtime Collection is a great 3-DVD set that includes 13 stories as well as a bunch of great extras.
Max’s Chocolate Chicken… and more stories by Rosemary Wells contains stories that promote cooperation, early reading skills, and problem solving. This afternoon I had a nice long conversation with my 5-year-old about the “Otto Runs for President” episode. She loved discussing how the various characters interacted with their classmates and fellow students as they ran for the big school election.
Chicken Little… and more zany animal stories has 4 episodes that promote humor, problem solving, and friendship. The “Chicken Little” episode is colorful retelling of the classic children’s tale. The bright characters with the silly names never fail to enthrall both girls.
The Red Hen… and more cooking stories contains episodes that promote problem solving, cooperation, and friendship. This DVD was hands down the favorite for both my 3-year-old, who loved watching “The Red Hen” and “Bread Comes to Life,” as well as her 5-year-old sister who has memorized multiple doughnut types from watching “Arnie the Doughnut.”
The entire set was entertaining without being overstimulating. I loved reintroducing my girls to some classic children’s tales that we’ve read before as well as some new friends and educational stories.
For Ages 2-7. As a special gift to you Scholastic Storybook Treasures from New Kideo has shared this free coloring page for The Red Hen… and more cooking stories. Download Here :: RedHenCS
