We are on week five of Distance Learning and being quarantined. Thankfully we do not live in the city to where my children have to stay indoors rather they are allowed to go outside and play as much as they want. The kids were bored the other day, and my oldest daughter decided to dress the little ones up for a mini photo shoot. We had just learned that they would not be returning to school this year and thought we needed to capture the moment. My daughter has always had an eye for photography and she enjoys the entire process. She took them out onto the dock to capture our beautiful surroundings as well and my children.
These are a few of my favorite photos from her session. I have always preferred natural surroundings instead of a backdrop, and nothing is better than natural lighting. You cannot achieve this quality with studio lighting.
My daughter did a really great job on her lying down poses, and capturing her siblings personalities. In the above picture you can see that mischievous look in my son’s eyes. I was quite surprised when he agreed to be photographed. Usually we have to persuade him to take family portraits, but he was willing to be tortured for his big sissy.
She is just finishing up her first year of high school and always asking what she should do when she grows up. Her photographs show so much potential if she were to pursue photography for a living or as a side job. I think we should encourage our children’s talents especially in times like this. Now I will have to have prints made so that we can put the photographs up in our home.
Do you encourage your child’s talents?
