I am sharing information I learned and also received the game for free.
About a week ago we had a good scare. Not fall out your chair and freak out kind of scare, but close. On a Thursday night before, my daughter slipped and slammed her head in to a cement column when leaving dance. As you can imagine, it totally scared her, she was crying and there was lots of blood. Once all that was past, and in watching her, she wasn’t exhibiting any signs of a concussion. As with all recommendations when you think your child may have a concussion, we checked on her throughout the night and all was fine. Until the morning…
When she woke in the morning, she was exhibiting MANY of the signs of a concussion. SCARY!! She was hard to get up, but I didn’t think much about that, because, mornings. Ha! But, once she was up she was saying that she couldn’t see straight and she was dizzy. From there, she told me her tummy didn’t feel good and she lost all color in her face. At that point, my husband looked at me and told me to call the doctor. Thankfully, they were open early that day. We talked to the nurse and she told us to hang up and call 911. Not bring her to the emergency room, to call 911 and get an ambulance to our home.
At that point, I was terrified. All the stuff I read about concussions had me reeling at this point, watching her every.move. As I watched her, I scrambled to get ready and find someone to watch my youngest so I could get to the hospital.
I did want to share with you some things to watch for though if you ever think your child may have a concussion, be it small or big. We learned a lot through this, and I want to share some of it with you so that you can think about this and save it in your memory. If our experience can help just one person, then it helps make what we went through, worth it!
All turned out ok, thank God! If I never have to experience this again, it will be too soon!
After we arrived home from the hospital, we rested, watched some shows, read some books and played games. We were able to get out a new game that we recently received, and that was the highlight of our weekend, to be honest.
We have played hours upon hours of Monopoly, the regular edition, so to learn there was a *newer* edition, had my 9 year old extremely excited. Have you seen Monopoly Empire? We haven’t played it a lot yet, but when we have, it’s been awesome. The game play is actually faster than the classic Monopoly. I think that is GREAT because you know as well as I do, a good game of Monopoly can last a LONG.TIME.
Another cool aspect to this game is all the recognizable brands covering the board. For my 9-year old, many of the brands are ones she has seen, used or at least heard of. Have you heard of some of these too:
- Beats
- Skype
- Nerf
- Polariod
- Virgin
- Levi’s
- …and more
One thing with this game, lots of small pieces, so we were sure to not play with the younger siblings were around. But, when we did play with our girls who are 8+, it kept their attention, had giggles galore and lots of laughs and smiles.
All right, so is your family big fans of gameplay like ours is? Do your older children LOVE to play Monopoly too? Have you see Monopoly Empire yet? You HAVE to get it if you answered yes to these questions. Your kids will thank you…and dare I say YOU may just love it too???
