will you be getting the boxtrolls for family movie night? :: review + information

What will you be watching this weekend with your kids? We tend to have a movie night at least once a weekend…sometimes middle of a Saturday, other times on a Friday night. It just depends what we are able to fit in our busy schedule. Last Friday night, we watched a fun and different one. A movie we wouldn’t typically pick! My girls tend to pick the fluffy, girly type movies. I’m completely fine with that, because that’s my pick too! We went a little different route this time around, and it was fun to mix it up!

The Boxtrolls Cover ArtWhen my girls first saw the preview for The Boxtrolls…they were instantly intrigued. To be honest, I was as well! So, today, I want to share it with you! I’ll give you some info to go off of so you too can decide if you want to purchase it where you normally buy your movies (or, you can grab in on Amazon for $17.45 as of the date of this post). Well, let’s get on with it!

A family event movie from the creators of Coraline and ParaNorman that introduces audiences to a new breed of family – The Boxtrolls, a community of quirky, mischievous creatures who have lovingly raised a human boy named Eggs (voiced by Isaac Hempstead Wright) in the amazing cavernous home they’ve built beneath the streets of Cheesebridge. When the town’s villain, Archibald Snatcher (Academy Award winner Ben Kingsley), comes up with a plot to get rid of the Boxtrolls, Eggs decides to venture above ground, “into the light,” where he meets and teams up with fabulously feisty Winnie (Elle Fanning). Together, they devise a daring plan to save Eggs’ family.

Based upon the book Here Be Monsters! The Boxtrolls voice cast also includes Academy Award® nominee Toni Collette, Jared Harris (Mad Men), Nick Frost (The World’s End), Richard Ayoade (The Watch), Tracy Morgan (30 Rock), and Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead).

This looks so cute. My kids love Coraline so I bet they would love it. I love that the main character’s name is Eggs 🙂

I think this movie looks so cute!

My son still can’t quite make it through a full movie so we’ll probably wait a bit longer. Definitely on my list though!

    Have a great weekend.

We did not get to see this movie when it was at the theaters so we definitely have to get this one.
