As I sit here typing, I’m thinking on my life. I know, starting off profound here with this post. Ha! So, really/not really, but I am thinking. It’s the first time I have all my kids in school for a portion of the day. My “baby” is now a 4-year old in preschool, three days a week. When my kids were younger, and I was constantly being told by strangers that time was going to fly by, I would think to myself, ‘Sure, what do they know?’ *insert inner eye roll* And now, I KNOW! The last four years of my life have FLOWN by! To be quite honest, I don’t see it slowing any time soon. It breaks my heart some days. I wish nothing but BETTER than the BEST for my girls, but I know that all I can do is guide them and teach them and pray for them and wish for them…that’s it. The rest is up to THEM!
My wishes for you are many. But the top of the wishes: I want you to be you. And wherever you go, I hope you will always remember the YOU that you are right now.
That one sentence right there pretty much sums it up! I was recently introduced to a book, My Wish for You by actress Kathryn Hahn, and it was honest to the core with my emotions! Thoughts and feelings I have for my girls were explained simply in a version that entertains kids. I hope they understand this because I couldn’t attempt to tell my kids how I feel better than this simple book! The illustrations by Brigette Barrager are pretty fun as well!

Inspired by the everyday life lessons of raising her own six-year-old daughter, author and actress Kathryn Hahn creates a heartfelt and touching meditation on the inherent power every girl has deep inside herself. Here is a timely and necessary message of the intrinsic importance of being who you are, no matter what the world tells you. To be curious, strong, and vulnerable. To live life on your own terms. To always look for that sparkle!
Multiple times a week, I read with at least one of my daughters. I PERSONALLY love this time. We read and laugh and talk about the stories. Cherished time! As soon as the others hear the book being read, they typically rush in. Well, not the 12-year-old. She’s on the verge of being too cool for that. Ha! In all honesty though, I WISH my 12-year-old would read this book over and over and over. There are definite phrases and “lessons” in here that she could use at this point in her life.
I canNOT recommend this book enough. Add this book to your library at home. Gift this book to friends and family. Whatever you do, DON’T read this book when you are emotional…like I did the first time. As I was reading, my mind was saying YES! You go girls! You can do it all!
You can find this book all over! However, my preference is always Amazon, I mean HELLO CONVENIENCE! You can pick it up at other retailers too, just click HERE to find out where!
Who in your life would like to read this book? I’d love to hear from you regardless! What are your thoughts?
