Smooth Fitness BadgeWhat’s one major difference between the people who work out and the people who don’t?  The people who workout simply make it a priority.  We have all been in homes where the fitness equipment has been demoted to a clothes rack or simply an eyesore in the corner haven’t we?  Well, we’ve owned our Smooth CE 5.5 Elliptical for over a month now and it’s getting used multiple times a week….. because we’ve made it a priority.

Smooth Fitness has a whole line of equipment to help you achieve your goals and I’d like to share a couple of things that helped me form the habits of working out on a regular basis, whether it’s by treadmill, elliptical or attending a class at the gym.

      1. Use a calendar.  I know, in this day and age is there really a need for an actual calendar?  There is in our house!  I need to see what my plan is…. visually.  Not to mention I LOVE crossing stuff off when I have finished it!
      2. Do your best to exercise the same time daily.  Not always easy, but it’s the easiest way to form a habit.  My husband has been caught sleeping in his workout clothes just so he remembers why the alarm  is going off in the morning.IMG_9545
      3. Get a buddy.  Accountability is everything when working out.  Sometimes it’s hard to be accountable to yourself when you first get started so don’t hesitate to find a partner.  I have lots of people that I would consider workout buddies but we never actually work out together, but we do talk on a daily basis and discuss what we accomplished to help keep each other stay accountable.
      4. Just do it.  A little cliche’ I know, but the hardest part about most things is simply getting started.  Working out is no different.
      5. Have fun.  Don’t take yourself too serious.  Laugh at yourself.  If you were training for the Olympics, I would recommend taking yourself a little more serious, but you’re not.  So have some fun with it.IMG_9542
      6. Put yourself in the position to perform.  Sign up for a local race of some kind, and then tell others you are doing it.  All of a sudden you’ll be a lot more motivated knowing you have this event coming up!  I do this fairly often just to give myself a good kick in the butt.

So…it’s your turn!  What tricks or tactics do you use to motivate yourself to get your booty up and working out?  Talk to me!

LOL on the training for the Olympics! have to agree 100% on the “Have fun” part! I think another would be to laugh. Laugh at yourself! If you mess up, don’t get mad or discouraged, just laugh it off and continue. No one really looks that awesome as on those DVDs 😉

I’m loving all of these Smooth Blogger posts! I’m motivated as ever to get moving and super jealous of your elliptical 🙂 I need one in my home so badly! Having equipment in the home makes it so much easier to get in activity, and really gives you “no excuses”.

OH good post idea! One lady here that coupons, will put the amount she saves from each couponing trip into a “vacation” account. Pretty nice idea! So if she saves $43.02 on a trip to the grocery store, she makes sure to transfer that into her vacation account. The money adds up quicker and shes saving money on her grocery bills.

Oh wow, that’s awesome Angela! I wish I could coupon better! It would make for more amazing vacations!! 🙂
